I went to Toscana for the first time last night with one of my best friends. We were running late (as usual) and had to make 9:00 pm reservations. The staff was super... the gentleman on the phone immediately said "No problem"!! There was a table waiting for us when we got there. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable and based on the location and service I was nervous the prices were going to be high. Everything was very reasonable. Actually more than reasonable considering the quality of the food they serve and the attention we were given by the staff. Julian was our waiter. Definitely ask for him if you can. He's very knowledgeable on the wines and knows the menu back and forth! He was fast and didn't miss a beat! We ended up ordering several things off the menu and sharing. We had the prosciutto wrapped scallops to start. I'm not usually a big fan of scallops... but these were divine! Absolutely the best I've ever had! Then a home-made Caesar salad and portabella risotto followed. Also amazing! We then shared a shrimp and pasta dish and the filet. I've never had pasta made from scratch and let me tell you... what a HUGE difference! Our dinner was perfect and the chef made a point to visit our table more than once to assure we were enjoying what he made. You can really feel the "love" surrounding this restaurant! Everything from the staff to the food to the chef visiting your table really made our dining experience special. I'm currently living in Virginia and having someone care about your business is something I miss! I can't wait to come back down to Florida and bring my Italian husband to Toscana! Absolutely wonderful!

Very good great pasta, waitstaff was a little up tight for a Sunday night. Especially during a race weekend.

The evening started in the bar where we were charged $2.00 per drink for ice cubes. Utterly implausible. The dinner, which was supposed to be a promoted "special event" to launch the restaurant's new menu, was attended by only about 16 diners in total. The cheese tray was unappetizing -- stale Gorgonzola, dry mozzarella , and towne house crackers. The chianti was musty and we had to send it back. The salad was skimpy and underwhelming with no ostensible theme -- a hodgepodge of greens with a few olives. The highlight was the cavatelli with mushroom ragu. The sea bass was swimming in over-garlicked red sauce. The lamb chops were raw. Not rare but raw. We were not asked how we wanted our lamb chops prepared; they just appeared at our table in this uncooked state. Dessert was a splat on a plate of some kind of cheesecake. Coffee was neither offered nor apparently available. Chef Tony, an amiable fellow, made the usual apologies and added that his sous chef was sick, and promised to waive the bar bill. But when the check came, there were no adjustments. This is not a restaurant I would ever return to under any circumstances. Oh, I forgot to mention that the charge for this "feast" was $85/person (plus $2.00/drink for ice cubes). My suggestion is to stay home, light a couple of candles, crack open a jar of Ragu and cook some Ronzoni. You will get a much more authentic Italian experience.

This evening we had the pleasure of dining in a fine Italian restaurant with the best service I have had in at least.... well, quite awhile. Not only were we visited by no less than four waitstaff and a bus person but also a Captain who checked to see if all was well several times. The staff was very attentive but not obtrusive. Towards the end of the meal the chef/owner came out to pay his respects and to find out how much we enjoyed our meals. The service was not the only thing that was excellent. The food was well above what we expected. My wife had veal scallopini which was done perfectly while I had risotto with diver scallops. My only criticism of the entire meal is although cooked properly, the scallops had lacked any flavor. The wine list is not large but complete and the house wines are excellent. The deserts are all made by the chef on premises and are also quite good. The ambiance is very nice and not overdone, and what makes this a thoroughly enjoyable experience is on Friday and Saturday evenings there is a female vocalists in attendance. Her name is Anna Maria and her voice is extra-ordinary. She was trained in Italy as an operatic vocalist but also sings contemporary songs with great impact. In short, this is a restaurant not to be missed.

This place was great! The food and service was excellent! Homemade Italian at its Best! Don't let the locaton fool you. Toscana is tucked away in a little plaza and I am so glad that my girlfiend and I found this place. Chef Tony was on the floor talking to guests which was a really nice touch! Next time you are in Daytona Beach be sure to check this place out!!!

For Italian, this is about as authentic as it gets. We went the Friday before Memorial Day, so it wasn't very busy, but the food was amazing. I have food allergies and normally have trouble eating out, but not at Toscana. Everything is made fresh to order. The host was extremely attentive and at times entertaining. At one point he even got up and started singing with the live entertainment. It is the type of place where everyone that works there will come over to your table and introduce themselves. By the time we left, they almost felt like family.

Heavenly! The best restaurant I have been to in the Daytona area. New York calibre food, fantastic service. Classy, great for any special occasion, in this case my parents' anniversary, but also for a romantic dinner.

Stopped for dinner while passing through town based on yelp reviews. Would have given it more stars if possible. Had a wonderful experience! We sat at a table in the bar....the bartender was also our waiter. His knowledge of the menu and specials was incredible. Ordered a casear salad for two fixed at our table; delicious! A veal special and a chicken dish off the menu both were wonderful. Will definitely return the next time we're in town. Go, you won't be disappointed!

My wife and I live in NYC and are visiting the area for a few months. We have worked our way through Winter Park, Deland, New Smyrna, Daytona B, and Ormand looking for the level of food we are used to. Toscana is definitely the best food and service we have had in any of those areas. We liked the Ravenous Pig, go to Spanish River Grill frequently and had OK food at the Cellar, Ronin, and Cress. Toscana is operating on another level. Honestly the service is better than we get in most New York high end restaurants. The cooking is consistent excellent traditional Italian; good ingredients, inventive, great execution. The have a great selection of wines by the glass (rare) that allows you to try new things and the reserve bottle list has no BS high quality italian vintages. The decor is not flashy but that is always the least of my concerns. Great value.

This is a restaurant not to be missed! It is not outrageously expensive, but it is pricier than many places in town. The price is right for the outstanding quality of the food. Great homemade pasta, well prepared proteins, all topped with some magically delicious sauces. With each bite we took, the food seemed to get even better. The service was fabulous too. Our servers were attentive without hovering, friendly without being overbearing, and happy to honor any request. The chef/owner came to the table of every party in the restaurant. He was obviously passionate about his restaurant and food. He was as charming as his staff. One caveat for those accustomed to chain restaurants, this place is not about turning tables, it is about dining. The service was by no means slow, but had a more leisurely pace, which I appreciated. I thought Toscana so good, I feel the need add to my reviews a separate rating. Normally I adjust my 1-5 stars based on the place meeting expectations and how it compares to others in the chain or similar places. If rating on a scale of 1 to 5 stars based on deliciousness only, I give it a solid 4.75. (I reserve 5 stars for now. I may never give a place a 5.)

The food is absolutely wonderful. I think the bread was the best I have ever had. We had the antipasta for two which could easily feed three and has great fresh grilled veggies and basil. I suggest the Fruit ala Mer if you like seafood. Everyone enjoyed their meals and they have a great wine selection. Nancy from Tallahassee

Was in Daytona Beach with my fiance for a conference, found Toscana on Yelp and yes I can attest it was very good! We are from California and I have eaten at many fine Italian establishments but this one was really a stand out! We had the table-side Caesar salad that was prepared for us by a nice gentlemen in suit from Ireland? Delicious! My fiance got the mushroom risotto and I got the bolognese. We felt like we were in Italy! AWESOME!

Wow! Just when I thought our 2 favorite other Italian restaurants in Daytona Beach, were worth coming here from CA for, along comes this one. It is so perfectly mouth watering and the service is spectacular. Three amazing Italian restaurants in one town is more than I had ever dreamed of. We live in a yuppified town in the SF Bay area, and the ones we go to there don't come close to matching these. Food: We began with caesar salad with perfect dressing the first time, but not subsequently, and fresh roasted red pepper appetizer with fresh anchovies. Over the three times we've had dinner there we've tried the fettucini bolognese (I loved it, though the pasta was not homemade and was beyond al dente and stuck together), spaghetti puttanesca (my husband loved it) house special pasta in a red cream sauce with a slash of vodka in it (my favorite thing there which I will get every single time!!), . My hubby and I among other things, shared the bronzino special last night. Our waiter, Mike, is wonderful. He deboned the bronzino table side and beautifully arranged it on two plates for us with excellent mashed potatoes. And for dessert last night we each had a slice of their ricotta lemon cheesecake. Definitely the best cheesecake I've ever had. It was quite reserved in the sweetness department (very Italian) thus dryer than regular cheesecake. This cheesecake is epic ----- and I might add lower in calories than the usual rich type of cheesecake.. Service: spectacular. perfect timing. everything just right! Atmosphere: very comfortable padded good sized chairs, nice lighting, very mellow and refined. This restaurant is not the easiest to find, so fire up your GPS and prepare to go around the block if you miss the turn. The entrance is in the back and you have to turn into a road just before the restaurant. The getting there process is WELL worth it! Ormond Beachers, you just gotta check this out! .

I would love to say my husband and I tried Toscana, sadly though we decided to cancel our reservation for Valentines Day after I was told our table would only be held for FIVE MINUTES and then be given away! I understand it is a holiday, but we are driving almost 45 minutes and paying a decent amount of money to dine at your establishment, I don't think telling your customers that the table will only be held for 5 minutes (Gramercy Tavern in NYC doesn't even do that!) makes a great impression & honestly terrified us as to what the actual meal would be like. Sorry Toscana, this is terrible customer service!

We were disappointed with this restaurant. The food was good but we felt the service from start to finish was sub-standard. There was a reason for only 4 tables on a Beautiful Saturday evening. I do not see this restaurant lasting - Expensive, Unprofessional. Poor service and no TLC - no thank you.

I don't know how else to describe Toscana other than delicious! We went for my sister-in-law's birthday and were pleasantly surprised at the high quality food. I love that include organic ingredients where possible! Highly recommend the award winning caesar salad and the saffron risotto with lobster and crab meat! Homemade gelato for dessert rounded out the evening for sure. Only complaint would be the lighting. It sounds silly but my Mom was stuck sitting under what can only be described as a spotlight while the rest of us dined in very dim lighting. The waiter was very accommodating and attempted to adjust them a few times but it seems that the right combo wasn't really possible without the rest of the place being in utter darkness. I hope more people go here because we were the only ones in the place for a decent portion of the evening. I hate that people in Ormond complain there are no good restaurants and then when one comes along, they never go! Please people, go! This place is amazing and I am so already craving a revisit.

Very old school Italian restaurant. Not much energy and very 1980. Food was good but not great. Service was good but not great, nice but slow. The veal's sauce was broken and oily, lamb and veal chop was tasty. For the area it's a very good restaurant, for an italian New Yorker , it was average.

Everything is top notch here! You'll have a wonderful dining experience here. The table-side Caesar salad is outstanding!! We ordered the homemade spaghetti and veal marsala, both great dishes. And don't miss the deserts: creamy delicious crème brulee and the lightest cheese cake we've ever eaten, both awesome! Our waiter was Alex who took great care of us, wonderful service. We will definitely dine here again when we return to Ormond. Toscana is amazing!

As we arrived at prime dinner time on a Friday night we were told the restaurant was full, but Tony, the owner , popped out of the kitchen and made a table for our party of five. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees, including the broccolini and sausage, pasta a Norma, and lobster ravioli, and enjoyed all dishes. The wine list is great, and the service is excellent. This is a hidden gem.

Great restaurant! (Hard to find in Daytona area) Food was wonderful, service was delightful, beautiful, elegant decor. I would definitely recommend this place. One thing, the waiter cleared the table, stacking dishes at the table ( a no-no). Other than that service protocol was splendid. Great wine selection. We went with one recommended by our waiter and it did not disappoint. Table side preparations of a few items was nice to experience. It's a dying art! Will return here when in Daytona area!

First off I wanna say that you may order wine by the glass...so don't fret at the prices. I found this place on here to suprise my girlfriend for her birthday. If I may say...to me I think this was one of the best Italian places I've eaten at....EVER! We were the first to walk in for dinner. For a while we were the only ones in there except of course the people that worked there. Everyone who worked there was very helpful, punctual, and pleasant. Her and I ordered the house wine, and even though I'm not a wine drinker, it was still good. We both ordered the Fettuccini Bolognese, which I recommend to anyone...especially if you're a picky eater like myself. The dishes were presented well, and of course he asked us both if we wanted cheese on our dishes. It was absolutely the best, just pure deliousness (yes I think I just made up that word). For desert we shared a Creme Brulee. Being as I have this every chance that I get I of course jumped for it. This one though, completely put the others to shame...it was perfect! Not only was it desert but we both were privelaged with seeing how the top of the custard was crystalized...I was in awe. The bad, well really I can not really say anything bad. I guess one would say the music, but I was occupied so I didn't notice the music. This place is a must try at the minimum. Tonight, this place has made me a regular for when I'm in Daytona wanting good Italian.

We made the mistake of coming to Toscana on their first weekend after they were opened, we were so excited to have an Italian restaurant in our neighborhood. They were slammed, so we left and came back a couple of weeks later. The good: The service is impeccable and extremely European. If you are coming to hurry and eat, this is not a place for you. The staff is polite and is wonderful. You have one waiter but everyone chips in to make sure that your dining experience is anything but perfect. The food is out of control, out of this world. Its beyond. The side table salad is amazing. The pasta is home made and the wine selection is wonderful! The pasta is cooked so perfectly, its hard to believe that you are in a restaurant. The pricing is right on par for the area. Vincent who sings on Friday night should be the only entertainment ever. From Sinatra to Buble he makes you feel like you have plopped down to a tiny Italian hideaway in the West Village. It is just the most wonderful feeling you could ever have. The not so good: Its just not for me, or for my boyfriend but we call first to see if they have the Opera Singer as the entertainment. I really hope someone from the restaurant reads this, because its a great idea to have her-but she needs to tone it down. When she performs, even if you are in the other room she comes in and sings beautifully, yes, but it is so loud and so intrusive it is impossible to maintain any dinner conversation. She comes to your table and sings in your face while you are eating whether you want her to or not. I also dont like that she extensively (again rudely) self promotes herself while you are eating by coming to your table and telling you what she does and where she performs, she should wait till someone asks. I hope that this doesn't deter anyone from coming, this restaurant is the best thing that has happened to Ormond in quite some time and I hope the word keeps spreading.

My husband and I found this place after searching on the internet for 'late night' spots in the Daytona Area. Given that most restaurants close the kitchen by 9:30 during the week day, we were happy to find Toscana open and willing to welcome us. We are very, very happy to have discovered this place. Both the service and food are superb and I left satiated on a deep level, that hit not only my culinary expectations but what I expect from a fine dining restaurant. Given the high level of service and quality of food, I would say that this restaurant is a great, great value.

This location is a bit hard to find. Not for kids. The server very nice and a lovely Irish accent. Now as far as the food, outstandingly delicious. Had the veal scallopini with the dark mushroom sauce. The bread served before dinner hot and crunchy. This is our first time and would return when we are back in town.

Really good experience! I went with a group of about 30 people and all members where very pleased with the quality of food and how good they were treated! I order the fillet and was cooked to perfection! For dessert, we got tiramisu, chocolate cake and also creme brûlée... All really good! Food is excellent and service is great! A+ restaurant!

NOT a family resteraunt. No kid menus. No smaller sized glasses. Food is spectacular but portions are very small. Spent 250 for two adults, three kids. Three glasses of wine only and we had to stop for drive through just an hour later. Service is slow and less attentive than I would expect for a resteraunt that only had two tables going. Tough location. Top of a court yard. Elevator was not working. We are all able body but if my mother was with us she couldn't have had dinner.

I'm sorry to say I was disappointed by Toscana. My husband and I recently ate there while away for our wedding anniversary, and it was not up to par. The service was polite but very slow, especially given that we dined on a Monday night and there were only two other tables there. The bread was teeth-chippingly hard. The food was too salty, and without alcohol and only one dessert, the bill was over $100. I was expecting much more based on the reviews, ratings, and decor.

Did not live up to the hype based on the previous reviews. This is based on service and food, and I typically consider myself a generous reviewer. Pros: Caesar salad was very good (did not order the table side service because the waitress said it's the exact same thing but $4 more per person). Vodka pasta was also very delicious, I finished it all. Mushroom risotto was my girlfriend's entree and she enjoyed it. Cons: the service was very slow, we were seated promptly without reservations but we weren't given menus until at least 15 minutes later. My girlfriend ordered the lobster risotto but instead was given the mushroom risotto. When we asked the waitress she immediately said it was the lobster risotto but after we repeated that it was not in fact lobster she conceded that she placed the order incorrectly. She did nothing however to rectify her error. No visit from a manager, no comp of the in error entree or any other offering. Additionally the beef carpaccio was just OK. Overall pretty good food, perhaps unlucky service but in our minds not worth returning for.

Great Italian food, lovely ambience This discreet restaurant is a real gem in Ormond Beach. It was not easy to find in the dark as a visitor to the area, but once found I liked the old feel of the place. The server was a busybody but took care of us when we needed him. The crabcake was very fresh and tasty. The bread was nice, though there was no oil to go with it. The caesar salad was top notch; one of the best salads i have ever had. I did not particularly care for the veal, but it was my first time ever having veal so I have nothing to compare it to. Despite that the dining experience was delightful and will try again next time I am in the area.

If you want a restaurant that is quiet so that you can talk with who you came to dine with, than this is the place. Our waiter Mario was very attentive to detail. It's nice to dine and not be rushed to hurry up and finish. Best kept secret in great dining in Ormond Beach. Will definitely dine here again.

New location, same excellent food and service. The caesar salad made table side is wonderful, but a bit pricey ($24 for two people). What a perfect place for a romantic evening. Ask for Mario, he is great!

Wish I had read the reviews before we went. Table of four in a restaurant that was about a third full. Service was horrible slow to the point that we were going to leave. We were seated then ignored no menus, no water, no bread. Others who came after us were served first. My first glass of beer was in a plastic Pilsner glass. Two stars for the Caesar salad and the taste of 3 out 4 plates. Linguine with clams was gritty and the wine hadn't been cooked out . Portion are small. Chance, our waiter needs to work on his customer service. Never see me or my friends again, and we live here,so good service would have meant a reoccurring business. My suggestion go someplace else and enjoy a nice Italian dinner.

The eggplant parm was stacked like a lasagna and baked. All the breading on the eggplant slices were soggy. I would have been much happier with a smaller serving size if they could have gotten it crispy and not soggy. The stuffed mushrooms and garlic bread were very good.

Food and service were definitely 5 star. Everything was fresh and prepared wonderfully. Staff was eager to please. The specials are something to look out for as they are unique. The location is a bit difficult to find but definitely well worth a visit.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
